Oh that is so reassuring to the 30,000 children a day who die of starvation, filthy water and simply preventable diseases.

Yep right up there with the Pulitzer Prize winners!

I am just so-o-o-o-o excited that F3 car will add so much to our lives.

Chuck, as I've pointed out on my own posts, it's very rare that "green" enthusiasts are also motorsports enthusiasts. There are gearheads on both sides, for sure, but I think USAC fuel regulations would be a bit obscure for even some of the most die-hard race fans, unless they were open wheel/dirt oval guys. I still remember when Mercedes came back to Indy running that Ilmor V8 - the Ilmor guys had to draw a pushrod schematic for the European press in attendance - they simply had never seen anything but OHC designs!

OK - enough defending (she got Ross Brawn's name wrong, after all).

Great post, Joanna - you totally beat me to it!

I suggest that Joanna Schroeder do some research before writing about racing organizations changing fuel drastically.

The United States Auto Club and the Indianapolis Racing League that followed it used METHANOL (C H3 OH) exclusively, until ETHANOL (C2 H5 OH) was pushed by farmers to sell more corn. The ethanol cars were slightly slower, torque and horsepower remained almost identical, as did the fire hazard, in that both fuels burn with a flame that is almost invisible in direct sunlight. The switch was political only. Its major effect was to keep the government ethanol pushers from attacking automobile racing as racing was now using the same fuel that the government was pushing.
