Alaskan Teen Converts 1971 VW Super Beetle To Electric Car

While some VW enthusiasts are still waiting for the car company to tap the electric car market (one of those being me), senior Bart Grabman has beat them to the punch. Whether or not Bart can see Russia from his house, he has my vote! Though…can I get mine in one of these?

Is there any way to reach any of these kids? They have the potential to be making a ridiculous amount of money. If I can pay even $20,000 to upgrade my car to be eco-friendly, I’m still saving at least $10,000 compared to buying a whole new one from a car company. Furthermore, I’d absolutely love it if all the car companies lost business because they were too money hungry and a bunch of kids were smarter.

Plenty of people build their own DC powered cars, my coworker has a late 80′s Ford Escort that is electric.

The only problem is that .GOV will NOT give you a tax break on a home built.

I find it inspiring that the younger generation are taking matters in to their own hands. The large car company’s should work alongside such young and forward thinking individuals to create the car of tomorrow.

  19. These are some inspirational stories of teenagers being proactive. If more people take action into their own hands like these kids, then real change can be achieved. The only disappointing part is that if teenagers can make these changes, then why can’t we get the car industries, investors, and the general masses to make such changes. It’s important that the message of this article is spread, because it points to the fact that we can make significant changes and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune.
