Now this car make a lot more sense than the V12 Quad!
Style, comfort, power and more efficiency than they’ve offered in the past.
I’ll take one in black and one in white.

It’s about time they started looking at greener options. Lexus have been making hybrid 4 wheel drives for a while now.

B.S. I call B.S. High power Hybrids can get better mialage than their non hybrid counterparts, but they can get less too. All depends how it’s driven. Drive it like the dragster it is, and the mialage will stink. A/C on etc will ruin the savings as the engine won’t shut down. And the average buyer of this will not be out to conserve. Of course you still get the tax savings…., and the little hybrid badge to point at.
Seriously, this is cool technology, but it is not going to save the world gas.

20% Improvement on very poor mileage is still VERY POOR MILEAGE. Let’s not kid ourselves. I don’t even have to look up the mileage of the X6 to know that it’s in the range of 15 – 18 mpg for real world driving. So you’re talking 3 to 4 mpg improvement? Waste of time.
It’s not the hybrid system, it’s the car – make better choices if you want efficiency, or just buy a super sweet sporty wagon and be happy with your performance, not your gas miserliness.

Disgusting.

I think the gas mileage rating should of been in the first paragraph, I read this whole lengthy article just to find it had omitted the most important point.
BAD! BAD! BAD!
It sounds like this heap of iron qualifys for the cash for clunkers program new.
Back during the depresion it was dangerous to flaunt an expensive car, if the economy takes another plunge Beamer X6 crowd beware.

The high end of the auto world has been slow to respond to the trend of addressing fuel efficiency, even though they have the most talented engineering talent available – something I’ve had a hard time understanding – but this car sounds like a move in the right direction for BMW.

Cute car, but my husband’s welding machine won’t fit on any of the hybrids. I agree with Chris’ response — 20% improvement is not much. We recently started saving 63% on the price of our gas, diesel (and propane) by joining a fuel club. If the car manufacturers can’t do better than that, we still have some control over how much we’re spending. I just bought over $1,000 worth of fuel certificates for $399.95.
