PGE to Participate in Largest Electric Vehicle Project in U.S. History

Editor’s Note: This is a guest contribution by Elaina Medina of Portland General Electric.

This week Portland General Electric welcomed news it was named a strategic participant and Oregon was named one of five test markets for the largest rollout of EVs and an associated charging station network in U.S. history.

The $100 million project, being led by Electric Transportation Engineering Corporation (eTec), will encourage the expansion of the growing EV infrastructure in Oregon. We are partnering with eTEC, the state of Oregon and Nissan North America on the project, which will bring up to 1,000 Nissan LEAFs and 2.500 charging stations to our state beginning next year.

PGE and its customers have already installed 20 EV charging stations in the region.

We’d like to thank eTec, Nissan, Gov. Ted Kulongoski and the state for sharing our vision of bringing transportation and electricity together to better serve our customers. We’d also like to thank our customers who continue to show their commitment to making PGE and our state green leaders in energy and transportation. Our customers purchase more renewable power than any other utility in the nation, and PGE ranks in the top 10 utilities in the nation for solar power.

More information about this exciting news is available at www.portlandgeneral.com/plugin. PGE customers with questions about its participation in the program can contact electricvehicles@pgn.com.
