If you study the companies involved in the rollout of the infrastructure supporting the LEAF you will find that it is already being built in Tucson, Phoenix and now it is being rolled out to another 4 states as well. This is an exciting time for us potential and hopeful EV'rs. Check out the news on Ecotality and E-tec in Scottsdale AZ to see what I'm talking about.

Isabella, when you talk about "Tesla's squelched system" for electricity, are you talking about using solar panels or something similar? Or, are you talking about something completely different?

Why would they buy an AC propulsion Ebox? Think about what you could do with that amount of money. Charging station, more lower cost electric vehicles. An AC propulsion vehicle would be excessive and demonstrate a lack of wisdom and efficient use of resources.

Doesn't the environmental effectiveness of electric vehicles depend on the electricity sources? Anyone thinking of implementing Tesla's squelched system for worldwide free electricity?

It is important that Zipcar Portland add battery electric vehicles to their fleet immediately.

Yes Zipcar should add the Nissan Leaf to their fleet but they should not just be waiting passively for the debut of an automaker EV.

Zipcar Portland should add at least one AC Propulsion Ebox (http://www.acpropulsion.com/ebox/) to their fleet within the next 6 months so that Zipcar Portland's members and the wider public can experience firsthand exactly what the capabilities of a well built Battery Electric Vehicle are. AC Propulsion is the gold standard of Electric Drive.

Zipcar has the capital to make the purchase.

I am sure hoping that Zipcar will be getting a bunch of these so more of us can try them out! We have a Zipcar hybrid now at front door of the Mississippi Avenue Lofts and would love to put a charging station there so that we can have all electric Zipcars in the future!
