What Winston Churchill said about the Americans is about spot on, they are very good at getting things right, once they have exhausted every other avenue first.

Another thing that puzzles me is, in 1941 the US government of the day completely retooled from making cars and completely rearmed in 3 years and 8 months, so you guys really do have the wherwithall to do

anything you so choose.

Cash for clunkers is a total waste of time,, if you tries as hard as you did in 1941 you could have a fleet of smaller sized motor vehicles in as shorter time.

This time you would not re-tooling to make weapons but smaller cars, but you would need to get your power from within, instead of relying on parts forein.

Do nothing now and you will all be in real trouble, go check out what your people are saying,

I've noticed a couple of used car lots on my way to work are suspiciously empty of cars now...

BTW - if you think this is a 'free' program - I'd really suggest you take a look at the amount of taxes you paid last year. Not the 'refund' you got - but what you actually paid that the government kept.

Divide that amount by $4500.

How many cars did you help other people buy?

This is the program that should have been passed instead of the auto company bailout that failed anyway. ---------------------

Of course, if it had been passed first, then we wouldn't have Government Motors instead of General Motors and no need for the government to use our tax money to compete with Ford Motor Co.
