Tony Parker Has Built An Electric Bike Made From Junk. He Also Made A Solar And Wind-Powered Charging Station For The Bike.
Tony Parker has built an electric motorbike completely from found junk.
Why? The laid-off worker found himself with a lot of time and just began tinkering around the house.

“Honda parts, washing machine parts, Yamaha parts,” Parker noted about occupying his time.
I’d probably just be eating Frittos and watching reruns of the A-team. Each to his own, I guess.
Of course, his friends and family though he was nuts to try it. But the Omaha-based DIYer not only built an electric bike, he also built a charging station for the bike.
The charging station consists of both solar and a small windmill. The wind generator can charge the bike at 250 watts per hour. Whereas the solar cell will only do 1.5 watts an hour.
A lot of time and innovation was put into reusing materials. Like the bike seat was originally made from an old office chair! But what kept him going?
“If you can do this and keep yourself going, you can finish this thing and use it as at teaching tool to inspire other people,” Parker said.
The bike is powered by a 2.5KW 48V motor and gets up to 50 mph. He calls the bike the Electra Green and you can find more info on it here.

Tony Parker you are brilliant. I never seen this type of bike in my whole life. If anyone wants to save money use tony tricks. Well I like racing bikes and like speed like Haya Busaaaa.
a big problem with Electric Bikes is people do not hear them, and they are harder to see then cars so they can be cut off by other drivers causing accidents

Interesting that just a tiny 2.5kw motor can take it upto 50mph
I had on a 1:10 RC car 0.75kW continuous, with peaks theoretically of 3kW, and i still felt like i need more torque while doing top speed (theoritical 109km/h or around 68mph).
Then again mopeds are usually 1.5-2.5hp (1.07kW to 1.79kW), and are able to do around 80km/h.
2.5kw 48v = 52A usage, so 3 car batteries (60Ah) can run it for around an hour at full power. Nickel metal hybrid, and other batteries of the type have quite a voltage decline.
2.5kW brushless with equivalent LiPo (Lithium Polymer) batteries would run for quite a few hours even when playing around with often on the full power, due to the highly increased effectiveness, and lower battery voltage drop.

The reason why I can see him getting up to 50MPH is because of that wind jammer fairing that it has on it. A mid or forward control bike, like this one, will have a horrible aerodynamic coefficient. It’s the lighter weight that usually makes up for it.
