Everybody is jumping on the green-car bandwagon, even manufacturers who traditionally produce low-volume, high performance vehicles like Lotus. The Lotus tends to be a “driver’s car,” meant for flogging around corners on weekend race tracks, and to see one outside of its native track enviroment in something of a rarity. But if Koenigsegg can make a low-emissions racer, why not Lotus?
Enter the Lotus Exige 270E Tri-Fuel concept, a 270 horsepower, supercharged Exige variant with an engine capable of running on gas, ethanol, or even methanol. The car debuted at the 2008 Geneva car show, but really stirred up excitement at the Shanghai auto show last week where Lotus venture-partner Youngman Auto beseeched the British manufacturer to bring the 270E to the Chinese market.
Why? Why not! The 270E is the fastest Exige variant ever, sprinting to 60 mph from a dead stop in under 4 seconds and topping out at 158 mph, all while running green, clean, and lean…but not in the engine-destroying way. And if the Exige 270E makes it to China, America will surely follow too.

I always found lotus cars impressive because the engines can be command found sedans but they build the cars very light so 200 hp make car really fast.
