Chocolate-Powered 145 MPH Racing Car is Made of Vegetables
A team of British designers have created a new racing car made entirely of vegetables and powered by … chocolate.
The car, named the ecoF3, has a steering wheel made of carrots, a body made of potatoes and a seat made of soybeans. The team, from World First Racing, hope that environmentally-friendly technology used in their car will be adopted by Formula 1 teams such as McLaren and world champions Ferrari.

The ecoF3, capable of 145 mph when it is launched next month, uses plant-oil based lubricants and features a biodiesel engine that can run on a mixture of chocolate and vegetable oil. Car parts are produced by mixing vegetable fibres with resins and oils in chocolate are refined to produce fuel.
At the moment, the engine fails to meet current regulations because of its unusual fuel. However, the WorldFirst team, based in Warwick University, UK, hope that official racing rules will be changed so that the car can compete in championship races next season.
A team spokesman said: “We hope the Formula 1 teams will see that an environmentally friendly car is not necessarily a slow car. We expect our new materials to be used by the Formula 1 cars of the future.”

Are there any video clips of the production process or of this car in action?

No need to just focus on F1, there are many other lower-spec racing series such as Indycar, ALMS/ELMS, Atlantics, F2, F3, etc. that these guys should be talking with. I noticed that Lola is on the rear wing, so I’m assuming they had a hand in this.

Actually, this team NEEDS to focus on the lower-specs and resolve any safety issues prior to stepping up to F1, Indy, LeMans, etc. Safety has to come first in racing today.
