Wonder who is behind it all? It almost looks like they want to give EV a bad reputation :)

Predictable. While I appreciate SSC's intentions to build such a dream machine, it's pretty clear from their behavior in announcing the Aero EV's capabilities that the whole thing is pretty much vaporware at this point - I think some junior marketing person there must have gotten a little too eager to get publicity (and funding?)...

imho I for one hope that SSC pushes forward with it's intentions as a primo performance EV maker. Remember that many performance and efficiency optimisations which are developed in the racing world are in turn trickled down and implemented in road going production lines.

Which brings me to my idea,

Why not start a race series based purely on EV's?

This would catapult innovation beyond imagination! Especially in the states where you guys are racing fanatics beyond reason....

Regards to all,

Clarification: I believe that a 10-minute recharge is possible, but only with a highly sophisticated high-voltage charger and the use of ultra-capacitors. Not 110v.

I do believe the SSC on this one. However, in my research, which is by no means comprehensive, I have learned that the latest in Lithium battery technology, combined with high-voltage computer controlled charging, makes 1-2 hour full vehicle recharge times possible. Some claim 80% charges in as little as 30 minutes...

Combine this with ultra-capacitors (which are the RAM [data storage] of energy storage as far as speed of charge/discharge) and you may actually have a functional 10-minute recharge. But I highly doubt from a 110v household extension cord... I see melted wires and house fires...
