They do not use Imperial Gallons in Continental Europe, England yes.

Many of Europe's Diesal Cars now get 60+ miles per Gallon(US Gallons).

And with the Bluetech Filtration system they also are cleaner then most Gasoline Engines here in the states.

Also Germany is implementing a Hydrogen Infrustructure througout the country along with many Recharging Centers for Electric Cars. The ydrogen Highway and electric Car system will be up and running by 2015.

Germany uses about 50% of the energy per Unit of GDP compared to the USA. The Transportation Vehicles are more Efficient along with the fact they have a very extensive Transit system including high speed rail.

Also the Factories, homes and buildings are much more energy efficient.

The use of Renewable Energy and Sustainable Systems is much more extensive then in the USA.

Part of the reason Germany has been the largest Creditor Nation over the past 9 years or so.

[...] Yeah, buddy! This is the kind of car that GM, Ford, and Chrysler should all be trying to build. The kind of car that every red blooded American tired of hearing how performance cars are just not possible anymore will want, and should try to buy. The performance is good for testosterone-fueled dreams, the gas mileage good enough for Greenpeace warriors, and will keep us having access to the familiar, while the inevitable full electrics, or possibly, hydrogen fueled combustion vehicles get off the drawing boards and onto the streets. Did ya catch this article on VW’s New Roadster That Gets 54 MPG? [...]
