It's incorrect to say that miles is "miles ahead of most automakers." Aptera Motors, based out of California, is far ahead of the EV game. If you visit their new production facility, they'll even let you take the 'sledge-hammer' challenge: If you can put a dent in the composite body of their prototype aptera 2e (due to hit the CA market this October, with over 4000 preorders, and 50,000 interested nat'l buyers), they'll give you a hundred bucks!

The vehicle sits on three wheels for better aerodynamics and less friction with the road, and has a lower drag coefficient than "lance armstrong on a bicycle," and under half the weight of a prius. It has front wheel drive, a solar-climate-assist program that vents hot air out the back of the vehicle, even when parked, seats two, has a 100 mile range (that's at 70mph with everything turned on, and the vehicle fully loaded)and a top speed of over 90MPH. Sorry Miles! Your EV can't top the Aptera 2e!

Retail Price is between $25,000-$40,000 making the Aptera 2e VERY affordable for consumers. The wide range in price is caused by a variety of things: drive train, gps nav, and other options. The 2e is the all-electric model.

Aptera anticipates they'll have the first 4,000 orders filled by the middle of next year. Their plug-in hybrid model, the '2h' will follow shortly thereafter. The hybrid model can travel more than 300 miles on a gallon of gasoline. Sorry Miles!

Do a google vid search for Aptera 2e or just read aptera news and you'll see why this is the car to watch over the next few years.

People have expressed concern over safety, since the aptera 2e is so lightweight. However, Steve Fambro, founder of Aptera Motors, has proven that although the aptera is classified as a motorcycle (the 3 wheels), he has far exceeded all safety regs for standard cars, making the Aptera not only the most efficient vehicle in the world today, but the safest as well!

SORRY MILES! Back to the drawing board....

It has front wheel drive, a solar-climate-assist program that vents hot air out the back of the vehicle, even when parked, seats two, has a 100 mile range (that’s at 70mph with everything turned on, and the vehicle fully loaded)and a top speed of over 90MPH. Sorry Miles! Your EV can’t top the Aptera 2e!

Retail Price is between $25,000-$40,000 making the Aptera 2e VERY affordable for consumers. The wide range in price is caused by a variety of things: drive train, gps nav, and other options. The 2e is the all-electric model.

Aptera anticipates they’ll have the first 4,000 orders filled by the middle of next year. Their plug-in hybrid model, the ’2h’ will follow shortly thereafter. The hybrid model can travel more than 300 miles on a gallon of gasoline. Sorry Miles!

Do a google vid search for Aptera 2e or just read aptera news and you’ll see why this is the car to watch over the next few years.

Back to the drawing board….

Tim.

We (our citizens, our elected officials) need to realize that there is more than one way to beat terrorism and prevent wars. Oil is the currency of extremism, repression and violence. It finances the weapons of terrorists, religious extremist and dictatorial governments. Look at what has happened within Russia since they became a major oil exporter.

If our government would stop investing such outrageous amounts of taxpayer money into the war machine and start making our country the leading exporter of affordable electric vehicles and various environmentally sound ways of generating electricity, we could stop the oil economy in it's tracks. What many developing countries need is affordable transportation that's easy to maintain. Many have natural resources, but they lack the technology to utilize them.

Societies can function with electricity as the primary mode of energy for everything from transportation to farming and industry. But, many don't have the technology and knowledge. We do. If the United States moves the world away from fossil fuels, the countries and terrorist organizations that cause most of the problems won't have any money to continue. How many people have died in just the last few years because of the worlds dependence on oil.

By the way, there are newer battery technologies that have higher capacities and longer life spans than today's lithium and lead acid batteries. More investment would get them into mass production sooner. ( How many billions does it cost to send five people to the moon????)

While I would be pleased to purchase one of these cars, Miles will need a network of dealerships to sell and service these vehicles. No vehicle is good enough to go without service during its lifetime. I suggest Miles work with the already-struggling NEV dealerships nationwide. They already exist, and the Miles product would provide buyer traffic they currently do not see. I am also concerned about so high a demand for this product that Miles will not be able to meet it, driving away customers and potentially causing Miles to fail due to under-capitalization. Still, their to-be-named electric auto looks more practical than the the GM-Chevy Volt. If it comes out before the Volt, it could give GM some real competition.
