Hooray for Mercedes!!! They are being realistic enough to realize that a straight electric car still has technological hurdles that make it unviable at this time, thus the diesel back up. Also, for being innovative enough to use their small diesel technology, which is quite green. However, it is a Mercedes, so it will probably cost in the mid-$60k range to buy one. But maybe they will shock me and sell it below $35K, but I doubt it.

Current fuels cells based on PEMFC technology have critical limitations, and car makers have to install expensive auxiliary systems to overcome them.

New fuel cells can compete with internal combustion engines. (See my latest article at http://optimism.thorscave.com)

With claims of superior, economically competitive, and environmentally friendly fuel cells, a startup company called Superprotonic hopes to revolutionize the automotive industry.

I'm looking forward to cheaper, greener, and more efficient fuel cells in performance cars.
