Wow mid-seventies! Keep in mind that the original estimates for the 2009 Jetta TDI Diesel were around 65mpg, and have since been revised to a less awe inspiring 30 mpg city and 41 mpg highway by the EPA.

I still bought one though, and I'm happy to report that, after 3 months, I'm getting a combined 43mpg with an all time high of over 52mpg on a single commute home (@40 miles). Might have to pick up the Golf next year for the Mrs.

Nice, informative website.

One comment, one request.

Comment: with VW's expertise in diesel technology how come they haven't looked at releasing a diesel/hybrid? Our Trimet city buses have it and run on biodiesel. If Golf bluemotion gets 74 mpg just think, with diesel hybrid we could see the vaunted 100 mpg car!

Request: can't figure out how to get the RSS feed on my Mac with Leopard. Can help? Thanks
