I've had these installed in my '03 4-Runner, and I'm convinced. I saw an immediate 2.5 MPG increase; not a lot, but every little bit helps to squeeze 350 miles out of a 23-gallon tank.

They tell you not to drive fast, but having a car that can accelerate like crazy is a good idea, for safety's sake. This goes double if you're in a state like California, where the public roads are riddled with lunatics in control of dangerous machinery (aka, cars, trucks and SUVs)

I took a roadtrip to the Bay Area this past weekend. I only go there once or twice a year to visit friends and family, so it's worth the multiple C-notes in gas. To give you an idea as to how well these plugs fire the engine, I cruised up the Siskyou Summit at the speed limit and never once lost power. This with a midsize SUV loaded with a couple hundred pounds of luggage and emergency gear. Siskyou is the highest pass on the entire I-5 corridor, with a ferocious 6% 14-mile grade (counting both going up and coming down). That mountain has claimed many a brake and transmission, but my 4-Runner saw only 500RPM difference between that and the Colusa-Sutter-Delevan straightaway.

The plugs also make merging up an onramp nearly effortless.I don't even have to put the pedal to the metal. So long as I have a clear lane, it's heartbeats between acceleration and full-speed zipper merge.

I have built many high performance small block Ford engines, and I've worked other high-performance engines from other manufacturers. Clean, quality spark plugs make a noticeable difference in engine behaviour, in particular power and responsiveness. I don't know about these particular plugs, but I always use Bosch Platinums in my own vehicles. Splitfire plugs, despite all the stupid advertising, were decent plugs and you could open them up a bit more than the manufacturers spec to achieve a noticeable increase in engine power. I know that this website is concerned with fuel efficiency and not power, but the real advantage of quality plugs is in the power. Note that even cheap AC Delco plugs brand new will be better than even the best plugs when they are dirty. So make sure that you have _clean_ spark plugs. You will feel the difference.
