Sorry Bush, Voters Think Investment in Renewable Energy is the Best Option

President Bush

After hearing President Bush blame Congress for our country’s high gas, food, and energy prices yesterday, I still wasn’t convinced that drilling in ANWR would solve all of our problems (note: sarcasm).

It turns out that voters, at least according to a poll of 1,200 Americans conducted by Peter D. Hart Research Associates Inc., feel the same way.

Not only did fifty-seven percent of voters rate energy issues as “very serious” concern, but they also thought investment in renewable energy was the best solution:

What is the best way to solve America’s energy problems? According to 51 percent of voters, the answer is to invest in renewable energy sources; 28 percent call for energy efficiency and conservation policies; and only 17 percent favor more drilling and mining for domestic fossil fuels.

This wouldn’t be a bad thing for potential presidential candidates to take into account, even focus on, if they can afford to be so bold. I can guarantee it will be at the top of my list of voting criteria.

  1. well said.. the more we thrive on a source, the more it doesn’t disappear. If we ever plan to rid ourselves from oil, we should take initiative and never again invest in oil.

No more could possibly be said.

  2. I don’t know if you people live under a rock but fuel price’s our off the chart. Oil is a monopoly which is not legal is it, well lets say for the sake of reality it exist. If you want to have a momopoly than you have to deal with government control. No more speculation, its now off the table. If we don’t demand action from our so called leaders our life as we know it in 5 years wont exist! We need to drill now! You enviromental wacko’s get real we need refineries now, South Dekota has the biggest oil find since the Middle east in the 1900’s, this by the way was found in 1951!

I am all for alternative energy and we need to spend Billions now for the development. Also give insentives in the form of grants now for a 100 plus mpg auto. Oh by the way you politicians as far as the Strategic Oil reserve hands off, $.25 a gallon savings to public is not worth the risk if we have a situation with Iran! Do we need to shut down the Congress and let the people take back this Country?
