Sorry Bush, Voters Think Investment in Renewable Energy is the Best Option
After hearing President Bush blame Congress for our country’s high gas, food, and energy prices yesterday, I still wasn’t convinced that drilling in ANWR would solve all of our problems (note: sarcasm).
It turns out that voters, at least according to a poll of 1,200 Americans conducted by Peter D. Hart Research Associates Inc., feel the same way.
Not only did fifty-seven percent of voters rate energy issues as “very serious” concern, but they also thought investment in renewable energy was the best solution:
What is the best way to solve America’s energy problems? According to 51 percent of voters, the answer is to invest in renewable energy sources; 28 percent call for energy efficiency and conservation policies; and only 17 percent favor more drilling and mining for domestic fossil fuels.
This wouldn’t be a bad thing for potential presidential candidates to take into account, even focus on, if they can afford to be so bold. I can guarantee it will be at the top of my list of voting criteria.

Yes, and it’s becoming more clear that the current US Congress combines the exact proper mix of corruption and ineptitude to provide the ideal feedstock for pyrolytic biofuels. You may have heard of the bio-oil plants that produce biodiesel from byproducts of turkey meat processing, and pork byproducts.
Politicians such as the current Congress are both turkeys and pigs, which makes them ideal for generating clean, renewable fuel.
Face it, they’re too inept and corrupt to do anything truly productive for the American people. And once they’re gone, there will be plenty more lined up to enrich themselves on graft and opportunities for various perverse self-ingratiations.
Elect them and then get some proper use out of them. People are energy!
That would have been the best April Fools post ever: turning lame ducks into biofuels via thermochemical catalysis…. Great idea.
The sad question is, who are the ignorant 17 percent who favor more drilling and mining for domestic fossil fuels?
Bush scares me, he seems to get more and more wired every day… I think his interests in oil companies has had a massive impact on the US economy (in fact the global economy), and the sooner he is out the better.
Yeah who are those idiots that DON’T want to pay $10 a gallon for their gasoline?! They probably still drive their gas powered cars to work. Ignorant fools! Why not just teleport themselves from home to work like the rest of us who don’t live on this planet?

Noone was suggesting that we can suddenly and magically replace oil. But anyone that thinks drilling in the US is going to make a dent in gas prices is just dreaming. High gas prices are here to stay. It’s time to move on…

No, we cant expect gas prices to do anything but go up from where they are. It will be years before steps are actually take and facilities are built to drill here-and the cost will be reflected at the pump.
But wouldnt you rather pay for you expensive gas without funding the middle east’s economy and war against US? But instead see thousands of jobs be provided for Americans and the $ go back into the American economy!?

How is that going to happen? Yes, I would love to see my money go back into the US economy instead of to OPEC (or even Canada), but the only way to do that right now is by supporting domestic fuels like biodiesel and ethanol. Additionally, it’s time to start pumping serious money into renewable energy infrastructure in the US. That’s where new jobs are going to come from, not from more drilling.
