Electric cars would help reduce air pollution in Phoenix, but the need for air conditioning 5 months of the year probably means hybrids are the best we can do here. Some people can get by without air conditioning, but most of us can't--think traffic jam on a 115-degree afternoon in Monsoon season humidity. It might work well as a second car for commuting during our cool season Oct. through April. Put it on the market and see how people decide to use it.

We Americans want one vehicle that meets all of our needs. I however have acknowledged that there may not be one that fits all needs. Mostly, I need to have a vehicle that provides me with a safe, reliable, fuel efficient transportation that transports me to and from work. When I need another vehicle for something that my commuter vehicle can't handle, I use another vehicle (that I may own), borrow one from a friend, or rent one. I don't need to own a boat to enjoy a weekend of skiing or fishing to enjoy that activity. We are Americans! Do the math and figure out how we can enjoy the advantages of who we are instead of complaining. This is reality.

be nice if a electric car could be designed that looked normal and had an acceptable price point ...every current model I've seen look like enclosed golf carts and at the listed prices is not not going to sell to the masses...it doesnt really matter how many miles you get out of the charge, most people work well within the current range and would have at least one other car for longer trips
