Wow. I'm just curious (you don't have to answer), but could you tell me if the Kool-Aid you drank was red or purple? I SERIOUSLY need to avoid that stuff at parties if you end up thinking a man who ordered assassination and waged wars was a good Christian! You mental patients crack me UP! (also: yay, Obama, for putting WiFi in the sanitariums!)

Leave Bush out of this. He was a good president, a Christian leader, and he made decisions based on what's morally right, not what pleases the masses. If only we had a president like that to follow him, we would have cheap energy, a booming economy, and freedom for those we freed in Iraq. He is a great and admirable man, and the only of the world/spiritual leaders who stood by the Bible when addressing the world after 9/11. Also, he doesn't own any oil companies, because his companies went bankrupt. Big business does however do what's projected to be best for it, which is usually secure the sustained need for it's product or service, same could be true for every industry. It is up to us to produce some innovative individuals who can rally the funds to mass produce some practical alternative energy sources. I do gree that the fuel economy is out of this world, how cheap would it be to drive to the coast for a long weekend? Probably like $10 plus expenses, and still have gas to work for the week.

You might come, but most people won't. Car makers build what most customers want, or they go out of business. When people stop buying SUVs and pickup trucks, car makers will stop making them.

These Shell MPG challenge cars were run n a track at a constant speed for hours- minimal acceleration, no braking. One technique was to run up to a given speed and then shut down the engine and coast to a lower speed, and repeat the process. Tiny engines were run with minimal or no cooling to maximize thermodynamic efficiency. In other words, there wasn't a lot here you could apply to practical transportation.

Given that the oil companies are obviously in cahoots with the US car companies and since at least half of Americans want high mpg cars...

The solution is simply to read what we can and implement what we find...then use the internet to distribute the information at low per unit cost.

There is a good profit to be made from the "squeeze more money from the dumb turnips" mentality.

I know that the Peugeot Partner minivan I drove in EU this last summer (w 200,000 km on the clock) got 50 mpg with it's diesel engine, so there is no way I'll believe either that the US cannot get double the mileage of current production or that we want gas hogs powermonger cars.

These are just lies foisted on us by "big advertizing" and their representatives who have just checked in on this web site saying that Americans don't want high mpg. LIES and coverups for 20x-50x profits are now normal for both big oil, big medicine, and "terrorist" protection wars.

Food biz still lives on 10% markup or less,

while oil companies actual gasoline cost is still about 14c/gal.=2000% markup

Medicine in the EU and Asia costs only 5-10% of US costs=1000-2000% markup. I was in both places just this summer, so I know the costs.
